The Rev. Richard Braem was born in 1928 in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin where his father served as Pastor. His parents were the Rev. Otto and Ella Braem. He attended grade and high school at Turtle Lake graduating in 1945. He went on to Concordia College in St. Paul, Minnesota, graduating in 1948. From there he attended Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. In 1951 he served an internship at Zion Lutheran Church in Turtle Lake after his father’s death. In 1952 he married Joann June Gall of Turtle Lake. He finished his Seminary studies graduating in 1953. His first call was to a mission in Kimberley, British Columbia, Canada, where he served from 1953-1956. He then was called to the Cass Lake Parish in Northern Minnesota, serving there from 1956-1961. His final call was to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aloha, Oregon. There he was Pastor until retirement in September 1990. Pastor and Joann had seven children. They are: David (wife Jill) of Portland, Oregon; Michael of Newberg, Oregon; Paul (wife Lisa) of Manning, Oregon; Richard (wife Pauline) of Newberg, Oregon; and Karen of Aloha, Oregon. Two daughters preceded him in death; Sheila passing in February, 2006 and Jean Stacey (husband Jay) passing in July, 2015. He is survived by sixteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
