Gloria Jane (Douglas) Graves, 72, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2022. She was born in Bowling Green, KY to Vivian Newton Douglas and Patricia Sue (Whitaker) Skiles. She is survived by the love of her life, Robert H. Graves, Jr., daughters Dawn Graves, Jane (Graves) Van Buskirk, step-daughter Portia Graves, 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, and siblings; Vicki Douglas, Timothy Douglas, Ted Douglas, Venora Carlson, Veronica Cox, and Melissa Skiles. Preceded in death by her parents, and sister Renda Douglas. She graduated from Tech High School, then attended Herron School of Art, Martin University and IUPUI. She was a progressive business woman, who owned her own employment agency, as well as having worked for Thrift Shoe Repair, Life, BBB, American Cablevision, and Precision Propeller/Yamaha. She was active in several clubs: Y’s-Men’s, Ideas Unlimited, Red Hat, and Indianapolis Saenger Chor/Liederkranz. She led the Campfire Girls, Brownie’s, and Chess club. She was an avid racing fan, and obtained her pilot’s license at an early age. During his early political career days, she campaigned for VP Mike Pence. Gloria is often described as artistic, adventurous, kind, and fun. A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, April 12th from 4-9 at the Indianapolis Liederkranz, 1417 E Washington St., 46201. Service at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Indianapolis Liederkranz.
