Obituary of James Vincent Black
71, of Beech Grove, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on June 10th, 2019. He is preceded by his loving wife Carolyn. James "Jim" was born on 8/19/47 to Dorothy "Dottie" Oliver and the late Robert A. Black. Jim attended Holy Name Catholic School and was a 1965 graduate of Southport High School. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and friend. As a young man Jim volunteered for the Beech Grove Police Department as a reserve police officer. He went on to become a Master electrician and proud member of the IBEW 481 for 49 years. In 1986 he joined Long Electric as Service Manager and was promoted to Vice President of Service Operations. A position he held until he left in 2006 after 20 years of service. He was quiet and kind. He gave freely and was uncomfortable receiving. His passions included fishing/hunting with friends and breeding, raising, training and showing his beloved dogs. As a parent and grandparent he was a good teacher who led and lived by example. He spent a lifetime creating fish tales, making tails wag and enriching relationships with friends & family.
