James R. Hensley

James R. Hensley 66, of Beech Grove, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011. He was born January 30, 1945 in Beech Grove to the late Robert and Alice Hensley. Jim retired from General Motors as Production Supervisor after 34 ½ years. Jim was very active in the Beech Grove community and was a member and current Chairman of the Elders at First Christian Church of Beech Grove. He was a Beech Grove and Central 9 Vocational School Board member and a founding member of the Beech Grove Education Foundation. Jim was a member of the Beech Grove Masonic Lodge #694, Jaycees, and he worked on the Beech Grove Historical Society. Jim also coached American Legion baseball, was an original member of the Beech Grove Hornet Athletic Club, and was just recently inducted to the Beech Grove Little League Hall of Fame. James is survived by his loving wife, Judy Hensley; sons, Matthew (partner, Vicki Wagoner), David (wife, Amey), and Nicholas (partner, Rob Hoaglin) Hensley; sisters, Ruth Jones and Jane (husband, Mick) Rice; brother, George (wife, Diana) Hensley; and grandchildren, Gavin and Madison Hensley. Visitation will be Saturday, February 19, 2011 from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Little & Sons Funeral Home, Beech Grove Chapel, where the funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. In memory of James R. Hensley, memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church of Beech Grove or the Beech Grove Education Foundation.
