Omer was preceded in death by two beloved brothers, Raymond and Earl, and beloved wife Norma Jeanne.
Omer had been retired from Indianapolis Power & Light after nearly 40 years as an assistant to Sr engineer. He graduated from Montgomery High School and attended classes at IU/ Purdue extension. He was a WW2 veteran proudly serving in the US Navy Air as a machinist mate in a Navy plane in the pacific theater. He married Norma Jeanne (Wells) in 1947 and was blessed with 60 years of marriage before her death. He was a long-time member of Holy Name Catholic Church in Beech Grove and was a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved ordinary family living and working around the house and was a skilled handyman, electrician, and gardener. He was also a skilled investor. He enjoyed fishing and also traveling with Norma including trips to Ireland, London, Paris and throughout Europe. Omer had a great love of his Faith, Family, Friends and Heritage.
He is survived by his five children Michael (Gwen) O'Connor, Patricia, Dan (Kim) O'Connor, Chris (Mary Pat) and Peggy (David) Homeier and 17 grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Holy Name Catholic Church in Beech Grove followed by Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Name Church or St Vincent De Paul.
