

Richard "Dick" Douglas Johnson, born on April 17, 1926, in Kokomo, Indiana, passed away on February 3, 2026, at the age of 99. A resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, and former Beech Grover, Dick was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
Dick graduated from Kokomo High School in 1944 and served honorably in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II from 1944 to 1946.
An avid sports fan, Dick's favorite team was Notre Dame, closely followed by Indiana University and the Indiana Fever. He loved to travel the world and was dedicated to maintaining an active lifestyle, exercising at least three days a week at LA Fitness, where he was affectionately known as "The Legend." Dick never knew a stranger and made many friends throughout his life.
Dick was a proud member of the Beech Grove Freemasons Lodge #694 for 63 years, the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction Scottish Rite, and The American Legion.
Dick was recognized by the Honor Flight program, traveling to Washington D.C. to visit the World War II memorial, and was honored by the Gary Sinise Foundation with a trip to the World War II museum in New Orleans.
Throughout his career, Dick worked for several companies, including Borden's Ice Cream Company in Kokomo, Sherwin Williams, Kim Paint Company, Warner Gear Corporation, Consolidated Industries in Lafayette, Farm Fans, Roselyn Bakery, Overhead Door, and Templin Fischer Inc. Services (TFIS).
He is survived by his devoted wife, JoAnn Moore, his daughters Kimberly Dunbar (Hugh) and Kelli Beretta (Matt), his step-son Larry Edminster, and step-daughters Jennifer (Rob) Cravens and Jessica (Lucas) Klipsch, and beloved friend/adopted son, Bob Cagg and family. He leaves behind five grandchildren, and six step grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Thelma Johnson, his son Douglas Kent Johnson, and his step-daughter Terri Chambers.
Public visitation will be held at Little & Sons Funeral Home, located at 1301 Main St, Beech Grove, Indiana, on February 9, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
Friends and family are invited for an additional time to gather on February 10, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00.
Dick will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens & Funeral Home, 1977 S State Rd 135, Greenwood, Indiana.
