

99, of Indianapolis, passed away on Thursday, January 14,2016, six days prior to his 100th birthday. Roy was born January 20, 1916 near Morristown, Indiana to Claude and Marzella Poer. He was married for 73 years to Florence (Nelson) Poer, who preceded him in death.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a retiree from Eli Lilly. Roy was a long-time member of the First Christian Church of Beech Grove and a Christian influence to many throughout his life. He was a member of Greenfield Masonic Lodge #101 for more than 50 years and a member of the Scottish Rite.
Roy is survived by his sons Jerry L. Poer of San Diego, CA and James D. Poer (Debbie) of Indianapolis, IN, his niece, Lisa (Jack) Lawrence with whom he was very close, and several additional nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his granddaughter Krista D. Poer.
A life celebration will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Little & Sons Beech Grove Chapel. The celebration will be preceded by calling beginning at 11:00 AM.
