Member of Trinity Southern Baptist Church. Born in Indianapolis to Elsie Whitis and Elmer Roosa who preceded him in death. He served in the U.S. Navy for a total of 8 years. He was a local musician whose band played all over Indianapolis. As a guitar player he backed country musicians such as Conway Twitty, Little Jimmie Dickens and various legends who came to the famous “Crazy Horse” Saloon. Wayne also started his own carpet cleaning business which he turned over to his son when he retired. He was an avid NASCAR fan and said there would never be another Dale Earnhardt! Everyone who knew Wayne loved him. He was always ready to lend a helping hand when he could. He had a wonderful sense of humor with one, two, three etc, jokes waiting to tell at any time. His wit kept his family laughing all the time because no one knew what he was going to say or when. You just knew it was going to be something hilarious.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Susie, sons Mark (Lauri) Wayne Jr, and Tommy (Holly), daughter Cindy and step-son Johnny Lee, grandchildren Christopher, Alison, Christina (Chris), Jared (Chrystal), Jeremiah, Zachary (Alex), Aiden, Vinnie, and Angela, 8 great-grandchildren Tyler, Alexis, Andrew, Austin, Hanna, Hunter, Avery, and Makenna, siblings Kay (Bob), Buddy, Sandra, Rick, Kenneth (Sherie) and Harold. He was also preceded in death by his son Bill, grandson Dustin, brothers Jr, Bob and Glenn, sister Linda.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 25 from 1 – 3 pm at Little and Son Beech Grove Chapel, with a Celebration of Wayne’s life at 3 pm. There will be refreshments served following the service.
Memorials in Wayne’s name may go to the Humane Society of Indianapolis.
