Valentin Cuellar Sr.

Valentín Cuellar passed away peacefully on the morning of Friday, January 9, 2026. A devoted son, husband, father, brother, and friend. He lived a life defined by strength, unwavering generosity, and an irrepressible sense of humor that could light up any room.

Valentín now joins his beloved parents Secundina and Pedro Cuellar in heaven, along with his cherished older brother Jose De Jesus Cuellar, darling niece Cynthia De La Cerda, as well as other esteamed family.

Valentín was blessed to share 54 years of marriage with his wife, Graciela Cuellar. Their partnership set a foundation and an example for their family, of hard work and resilience.

He is survived by his five children—Robert, Silvia, Julio, Valentin Jr., Alexis, and his wife Graciela. He worked tirelessly every day of his adult life to provide for them, to open doors of opportunity, and to show them, through example, what it means to be a person of integrity and character.

He is also survived by three siblings—his sisters Maria Fernandez and Maria (Concha) De La Cerda, and his brother Victor Cuellar—along with hundreds of extended family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren who loved and respected him deeply. To know him was to be welcomed into a circle of warmth and loyalty that extended far beyond bloodlines.

A natural disciplinarian with a backbone of steel, he held himself and those around him to high standards—yet beneath that firm exterior beat a heart of pure gold. He never turned away someone in need, whether it was family, a neighbor needing help with a repair, a friend short on cash, or a stranger who simply needed encouragement. He gave freely his time, his hands, and his wisdom.

And oh, how he could make people laugh. Valentín was a master of the well-timed joke, the quick-witted observation, the story told just right so the whole room erupted in laughter. Even in the hardest moments, he found a way to bring levity, reminding everyone that life, no matter how serious, should never lose its capacity for joy.

He lived with purpose and left behind a legacy measured not in possessions, but in the countless lives he touched, the family he built, and the love he gave without keeping score.

Valentín Cuellar will be forever remembered, deeply missed, and always carried in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His laughter still echoes, and his lessons will forever guide.

Valentín Cuellar falleció en paz la mañana del viernes 9 de enero de 2026. El fue un hijo, esposo, padre, hermano y amigo fiel. Vivió una vida definida por su fortaleza, generosidad inquebrantable y un sentido del humor irreprimible que podía iluminar cualquier lugar.

Valentín se reúne ahora en el cielo con sus adorados padres, Secundina y Pedro Cuellar, junto con su apreciado hermano mayor, Jose De Jesus Cuellar, su querida sobrina Cynthia De La Cerda, y otros estimados familiares.

Valentín tuvo la bendición de compartir 54 años de matrimonio con su esposa, Graciela Cuellar. Su unión sentó las bases y fue un ejemplo para su familia de trabajo arduo y resiliencia.

Le sobreviven su esposa Graciela y sus cinco hijos —Robert, Silvia, Julio, Valentín Jr. y Alexis—. Trabajó incansablemente cada día de su vida adulta para proveerles, abrirles puertas de oportunidad y mostrarles, con su propio ejemplo, lo que significa ser una persona íntegra y de carácter.

Valentín también es sobrevivido por sus hermanos: sus hermanas María Fernández y María (Concha) De La Cerda, y su hermano Víctor Cuellar, así como por cientos de familiares extendidos, sobrinos, sobrinas, primos, nietos y bisnietos que lo amaron y respetaron profundamente. Conocerlo era ser recibido en un círculo de calidez y lealtad que se extendía mucho más allá de los lazos de sangre.

Disciplinario por naturaleza y con una voluntad de acero, se exigía a sí mismo y a quienes lo rodeaban altos estándares; sin embargo, bajo ese exterior firme latía un corazón de oro puro. Nunca le negó ayuda a quien la necesitara, ya fuera un familiar, un vecino que requería apoyo con una reparación, un amigo con dificultades económicas o un desconocido que simplemente necesitaba palabras de animo. Daba generosamente su tiempo, sus manos y su sabiduría.

Y cómo hacía reír a la gente. Valentín era un maestro del chiste oportuno, de la observación ingeniosa y de la historia contada con tal precisión que hacía estallar de risa a todos en el lugar. Incluso en los momentos más difíciles, encontraba la manera de traer ligereza, recordándonos a todos que la vida, por más seria que sea, nunca debe perder su capacidad de alegría.

Vivió con propósito y dejó un legado que no se mide en posesiones, sino en las incontables vidas que tocó, la familia que formó y el amor que dio sin llevar cuentas.

Valentín Cuellar será recordado por siempre, profundamente extrañado y llevado eternamente en los corazones de todos los que tuvimos la fortuna de conocerlo. Su risa aún resuena y sus enseñanzas nos guiarán para siempre.

Descansa en paz, “Apá”. Nos diste todo, y pasaremos el resto de nuestras vidas tratando de honrar el hermoso ejemplo que nos dejaste.
