Bessie Dianne Scordas Sharney

Dianne Effenson Sharney, born in Roanoke, Virginia to Thomas and Thelma Scordas on August 9, 1923. She moved to New York City when she began her professional modeling career for John Robert Powers. She was a long time member at Congregation Emanu EL Who’s Who , River Oaks Dance Club, Agnes Maule Dance Club, Petroleum Club & Houston City Club. She was married to Sam Vento and they moved to Galveston, TX where they raised their three daughters. She met and married Marvin Effenson and they made their amazing and loving life together for 27 years in Houston. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Helen & Katherine, son- in- law Sonny Nelson and grandson Chad Nelson. She is survived by daughters; Norma Nelson, Cynthia Baltazar (Joe) and Cheryl Rhodes (Bill), five grandchildren; Tad Nelson, Steven Baltazar, Brian Baltazar, Jason Rhodes (Amanda), Austin Rhodes (Emily) and three great-grandchildren; Griffyn, Jordan and William Rhodes. Dianne loved to dance and being a mother to her children. Her family, with much appreciation, would like to thank her caregivers for their loving care: Rosalinda Alverado, Felicia Key, Fransha Chambers and Rayna Prado. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 10:00 am at Emanu El Memorial Park 8341 Bissonnet, Houston, TX 77074. Funeral Directors, Bellaire, TX.
