

Cora Betty Marr (Pike), age 94, of Houston, Texas passed away on January 29, 2021. She was born on February 8, 1926 in Forest, Ontario, Canada as one of seven children to parents John Fredrick Pike, and Bertha “Bertie” Hilda Pike (Winters).
Betty grew up in Forest Ontario Canada, eventually moving to London, Ontario. She worked as a telephone operator for Bell Canada, as well as clerical positions, and later, as a homemaker for her family. It was in London that she met her husband Robert Joseph Marr. They married in 1944, remaining married for over 50 years and having three children together. They moved to San Juan, Texas in 1950.
Betty’s parents were child migrants from Britain & Wales that were brought across the Atlantic to Canada. Her parents’ story is written in Lost Children of the Empire: The Untold Story of Britain’s Child Migrants.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Joseph Marr, and son, David Alan Marr.
Betty is survived by Daughter, Judith L. Smith (Burk) and her husband, Sam Bryan Burk III; son Robert James Marr; nephew John Marr; and niece Gwen Pike Harris.
Betty will be interred at Woodland Cemetery in London, Ontario, Canada.
