We knew DeeDee through the Welsh Pony world.  When we got married in 1974, DeeDee and Sheryle  set up the reception, which was wonderful.  We enjoyed seeing the photos of DeeDee in her varied pursuits through life.

Nothing could have prepared me for receiving this news from my equally saddened Mother, who well remembers all the years in the '60's that were shared with Dee Dee - bicycling, horseback riding - it was all innocent and fun back then with us kids spending SO much time outdoors - largely without the dangers facing outdoor children and youths of today.
Although we lost touch over the years, the memories of Holy Ghost School, summers with the horses (was Dee Dee's paint horse named Apache?), and then St. Agnes have never faded. Those 'foundation' years were special and have never been forgotten. It is wonderful to read that Dee Dee built on that foundation to live a very full life. While we are terribly saddened that MS took her so early, we remain glad that she did get to enjoy many, many wonderful years with her horses and ever her family. Eventually we will all be together again and you can rest assured that we will reminiscence about the good times. For now, our loss is Heaven's gain.

Much gratitude to whoever took the time to upload such a poignant vignette of Dee Dee's life. It definitely shows a life well-lived.

Deedee - Let this  journey be as  wonderful as when we were in Ireland riding the Irish Thoroughbreds with their hooves flinging mud in the air as we galloped across the countryside.

Dear  Deedee,
It is with a heavy heart that I learned of your passing, is so hard to accept it but I know you are smiling from a better place.  You have been a very dear friend from the time we met in the late sixties until now.  The horses were our common interest: there were many hours dedicated to them, their needs and riding.  As time passed I did admire your tenacity in working and continuing your education until you succeeded in your scholastic goals.  It is that tenacity and faith which has carried you through such a difficult time during these past years.   You had a great appreciation for the fine Arts, paintings, sculptures, museum, operas, literature and world history.  You shared your insight on business and finance with a keen mind and great humor.  Dear Friend you will be greatly missed.  Veronique

Dee Dee, 

It has been hard for me to accept your passing, however, I am fully confident that you are in a greater and better place without the physical and mental struggle with  MS. The last few days during my morning run I think about the last Christmas I spent with you a couple of years ago. We were at my mothers apartment with my mother, grandma, dad and my sisters. I was so happy to see my family join together the Christmas after my parents divorce. We have all experience troubled times but we are willing and grateful to spend our holidays together as a family, which is the most important and vital part of our lives. 

I bring this memory to thought a lot lately because of the smile on your face and the happiness that was radiating in the room. I miss it dearly. I remember your humor and appreciation wearing the three fur scarves Corey had brought from New York. It was not only a present from your niece but the presence of family that brought joy to your heart. 

I will always remember that day because of the grace and happiness your family brought to you. It is family that makes us who we are and grow to love.  

I want to thank you for being a apart of my life and look forward to see in the future.

Deirdre : Bathed me when I was a young child,  baby sat me when mom and dad were gone, picked up my little league baseball uniform when I forgot to do so, always brought me with her to ride her horse and be the stable boy , taught me how to ride a horse, ( and fall off of one) , visited me when I was in college, bought for me books and clothes when I was in medical school , flew to visit me in Tennessee and went for a tour of the smokie mountains, helped me care for Buckus, Willie and Smokey, was a support to me during my residency training. Always addressed me with a smile and " Hey , how are you doing " ? and even in my 40's called me her little brother. Definitely my favorite sister who will be dearly missed.  - With Love your Brother Dave
