It is the best one I have found and I think truly defines our loved one Donald:
"He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; who has enjoyed the trust of pure women, the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who has left the world better than he found it, ...
Who has never lacked appreciation of the Earth’s beauty or failed to express it; whose life was an inspiration; whose memory was a benediction."
And this fits right in with the Jewish tradition’s definition of success.
As King David taught us in the Book of Psalms that the measure of success is one’s ability to do the right thing day by day—every day.
In this spirit, when we look back over the life of Donald Lipp, we see a life of goodness, hard work, and a great devotion to family.”
Donald was born November 13, 1956 in Houston, Texas.
Parents - Harold and Libby
Donald was always happy, go lucky
Sweet and kind
Constantly smiling
As a child –
With his large body frame and flat top haircut –
He was a big teddy bear –Cute and adorable – everyone loved to hug him …
Donald was the baby of 3 brothers – Howard and Arnold
Howard was the clear cut favorite
But Donald was a close second
The boys fought and being the youngest – Donald took the brunt.
But he didn’t care.
For their entire lives – The 3 brothers spoke every day –
They would call to check on each other
To make sure all was ok
To show their love
And yes, they would continue to be cry babies
Often together …
And while the brother did do a lot of good for others –
As teens - They all had cars – fast and loud
Glass packs – Mufflers made to have your car sound like a race car
They upset a lot of neighbors in Meyerland
Every Sunday – The family would go Lake Houston – They had a boat “Leeping Libby” –
Libby didn’t swim.
They would eat, playing at the lake, hang out at the club, spending time with their extended family
Throughout his life – He loved boating and fishing
From age 13, he and his brothers worked for his parents at their dry cleaning business
He ended up working with his parents for most of his life
He was a mama’s and daddy’s boy
He called his mom – Mamma
Family orientated
Ready to help whenever called upon
When his father got sick – He helped run the dry cleaning business
He later went into the cleaning supply industry – He was a cleaning supply rep.
Donald help him with that as well.
He would take his dad every where he needed to go.
Taking care of his parents to the best he could
If they needed anything – He was there to help
He was always available to take care of them
He was selfless
There for anything
When his father passed away
Donald went to work for Krogers
He got into the butchers union but he never cut the meat
He was strong – he could pick up the large bags of food
He loved it there – Bonding with the people
He was a people person
He lived in the Heights
Enjoyed it there
He knew the best places to eat
The energy and ambiance of the neighborhood
Yes Donald was a good man –
But he was opinionated when it came to politics.
Yes, some of the family apologizes for all his crazy and controversial FB posts
He worked at Kroger’s until he got sick himself
But he never complained about his health issues
Just 3 months ago – His brothers moved him to the Brookdale
They got him new furniture – They wanted to make it super nice.
But he wanted his parent’s furniture
That is what made him happy
A few months ago – Nov. 13 – Rebecca hosted a party for his 65th birthday – It was just the family and Rebecca’s dog.
And Donald was so happy …
He cherished the opportunities to be around his aunts, uncles, cousin, bothers, and their children and grandchildren.
Even at the end, he was teaching everyone about the importance of family.
He was at peace knowing his legacy was being passed on to future generations.
A proud legacy that will continue to bless this family for many, many years to come.
Today, we say farewell with pride that we knew you; with admiration for your strength and spirit; with gratitude for all that you gave us, your kindness and your love;
We say farewell with the prayer that God will grant you everlasting peace and that reward which the good and the loving receive in Gods’ presence.
Zichrono Levracha – May the great life of Donald Lipp be for a blessing to us always.
And may his soul be bound up in the bond of eternal life, together with the souls of all the righteous that are in God’s keeping.
To this, let us say, Amen.
