

On January 27, 2021, Dulene Dollins Anstine, 94, of Houston, beloved wife, of Leslie Paul Anstine peacefully entered her eternal rest with our Lord and Savior. She was born February 25, 1926 in Corsicana, Texas to William Edgar and Demmer Geter Dollins.
She grew up in Gladewater, Texas. She loved music and especially loved her drums. As a Jr. High student, she made the High School Marching Band – a dream come true! She graduated Gladewater High School (1944), earned her Associates of Arts degree at Kilgore College (1946) she was an active member of the Kilgore College Drumline and they played for the “famous” Kilgore Rangerettes during their performances; she also attended the University of Texas @ Austin. Following college, she pursued a successful career in the Accounting Field beginning with the Hancock Clinic/Gladewater (1946-1952); then Shell Oil Company/Midland (1952-1956); It was during this time she met her future husband and love of her life, Leslie Paul Anstine. They were married at First Baptist Church, Midland on May 26, 1956. They shared over 64 wonderfully blessed, very happy years together; she joined J.C. Barnes/Midland an Independent Oil Operator (1956-1958); then joined Permian Oil Company/Midland (1958-1962). In 1962, Dulene retired to become a full-time, stay at home mom upon the arrival of her first blessing, a daughter Leslie Ann (1962) followed by her 2nd blessing, a son, David Paul (1964).
In 1963, Paul was offered a transfer with Shell Oil Company and they moved from Midland to Houston. For many years, they were active members of Willow Meadows Baptist Church. Dulene never hesitated to offer her help for anyone and was always up for the task. She was a loving, kind, selfless lady, always positive and motivating. She was active and involved in her kids’ lives from school, carpools, ballet, swim lessons, piano lessons, basketball, baseball, football practices and games, tennis lessons, ice-skating lessons, drill-team mom, always supportive and always a blessing. She was an excellent seamstress and made a lot of her own clothes as well as clothes for her daughter and also her grand-daughter, drapery, numerous Barbie outfits and countless dance costumes. She loved to cook, especially during the holidays, she was known for her homemade sourdough bread. Dulene enjoyed bowling, church socials, fishing, camping, neighborhood block parties, friends and traveling, but one of her favorites was playing golf. She was a great golfer. She won several golf tournaments and match plays and earned several trophies. She and her husband, Paul traveled around the country playing in various golf tournaments and truly enjoyed the game as well as making new friends.
Dulene was preceded in death by her parents, William Edgar Dollins and Demmer Dula Dollins, her brothers Floyd Dollins and Basil Dollins, and her son David Paul Anstine.
Dulene was very proud of her family and loved them with her whole heart. She leaves behind many who mourn her loss including her beloved husband Paul, daughter Leslie Anstine Swanner and her husband Ben; grandson Benjamin Swanner, his sons Charlie and Jensen; grandson Kevin Swanner and his wife Tara, their children Zachary, Aubree, and Morgan; grandson Jason Swanner and Madison Amador, their son Dexter; granddaughter Lauren Swanner, her daughters Lexie and Haylie; step-grandson Ryan Swanner and his wife Aimee, their children Ethan and Vance; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many cherished friends.
Services for Dulene will be at Willow Meadows Baptist Church February 4th with a visitation from 10:00-11:00 am with a funeral service following at 11:00 am. There will be a graveside service February 5th at 11:00 am at Gladewater Memorial Park Cemetery in Big Sandy, Texas.
