1931-2018
Ivan Knobler passed away peacefully at home on March 10th in Houston at the age of 86.
He is survived by his wife Enid, son David and his wife Cathy, three grandchildren, Shannon, Haley, and Jake, his sister Betty, numerous nieces and nephews, and family and friends.
Ivan was a native Houstonian born on October 1st 1931 to Isadore and Goldie Knobler.
He attended San Jacinto High School, The University of Texas at Austin, and also served proudly in the United States Army. He married Enid in 1970 and they had a beautiful marriage. In addition to being wonderful parents they went on numerous trips around the country and the world for that matter, were constantly attending sporting events, and fine arts events together.
Ivan had a long career with the City of Houston and retired in 1997. He was a talented writer, was a member of the Masons Temple Lodge #4, he was active at Congregation Beth Yeshurun where he served in the choir for many years and was also active in B'nai B'rith.
A funeral is scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday in the Earthman Bellaire Chapel, 4525 Bissonnet St, Bellaire, TX 77401 with the burial to follow at Beth Yeshurun Cemetery at 3502 Allen Pkwy, Houston, TX 77019. A Shiva service will be at Lamar Tower Monday evening at 6:00 in the Garden Room. Rabbi David Rosen will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ivan's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a charity of your choice. Some organizations that Ivan supported through the years were the Houston Humane Society, the American Cancer Society, and Congregation Beth Yeshurun.
