I was a kid getting confirmed at SJN, Jayme’s always had the best attitude and always wanted the best for me and my peers. He always had a smile on his face and he gave off such a great vibe. He felt comforting, like a safe space. He always cared for others and was incredibly selfless. I am deeply saddened to see him go. I spent two years with him being my confirmation director I wouldn’t want anyone else but him.

To my dear brother Jim.  I am so proud to read about the numerous lives  of people that you had touched being  a youth minister.    You certainly touched my life as your little sister.  We always remembered each other's birthdays and wishes of happy holidays.   I loved your sense of humor and care of keeping in touch.  We were very close throughout our childhood and then some.  You were only 14 months older than me.   I cried for two straight weeks after you passed away.  I did so,  always seeing the 5 x 7 picture of you and  our uncles ( on my tv stand ) that I took at our Mom's funeral gathering back in 2018.  Sad to say, that was the last time we were with each other.  :  (  
I cried and cried at your beautiful funeral mass at our St. Justin  Church,  where we were raised and blessed to go to their school together.   I was truly blessed to have a brother like you.  I will never forget you!  I love you so much Jim!   Love, your little sister Katie.

Jim helped a lot of kids see the best in themselves.  Many SJM kids will be forever grateful for his influence. His positive impact on the future  is immeasurable.

Jaymes was one of the kindest persons I  have known. He helped me become a better Youth Minister and was always a wonderful mentor. I got to know him much better in 1997 when we both took teens to World Youth Day, Paris. He’s been a friend for a long time. I will miss him but I know he slid into heaven yelling “ woo hoo, what a ride!”. Prayers for his family because I know he will be missed. Jaymes, you are loved. Rest in peace, my friend.

We called Jaymes "Jim" back in the 90s at St Justin Martyr in Anaheim. I started to go to youth group originally to get out of the house during the week (something forbidden in my house unless it was school or church related!) What I found was so much more. Jaymes cultivated a real little community. He was sweet and funny and gave a bunch of unruly kids a place to gather for the night. I met some of my oldest friends at his youth group. Though we lost touch over the many many years, I never forgot him. I wish he had known what a light he was to so many, but maybe he does.

I met Jayme’s through my husband, Adam Montano. When I met Jayme’s it was like he had known me my whole life. Greeting me with a huge hug and joyous smile. He graciously toured us around the Mission SJC and spent the afternoon sharing stories from the past and hopes for the future. Jayme’s was more than a YM leader. He was a friend, a safe space, a mentor, a father figure. I will be forever grateful for the love and guidance he gave Adam over the years. Jayme’s will be eternally loved and missed. His memory and legacy will be a blessing.

There are so many wonderful memories I have of this wonderful man. In 1998, I had been a volunteer with Jaymes Curran at HFC’s Youth Ministry  and Confirmation program. I had shared with Jaymes my recent inspiration to join an organization called NET Ministry and spend a year in Australia doing Ministry. Jaymes encouraged me to pursue.  He assisted in fundraising, and consistently reassured me that as stress as I was, it would all come together. He encouraged me to’ Have Faith in God’. As the time to leave came closer and closer my level of anxiety increased and Jayme’s continued to counsel me. Jaymes threw a party for me as a bon voyage. Jaymes spoke and his words were of pride for my next endeavor.  Great words I never heard from my father for this next step in my life.  Jaymes was a rock for me a true embodiment of Christ’s undying love. Jaymes provided, love, wisdom and support to not only me but thousands of kids he considered ‘ His Ministry Kids’.  I am saddened of Jaymes passing, but I imagine that my friend, my brother and mentor like my return from a year of ministry is ready to welcome me when I join him in heaven.  Jaymes provided a lot of great memories and wisdom  but ‘Have Faith in God’ is a most cherished. My deepest condolences to all his loved ones.

I met Jaymes as a youth minister at the neighboring parish of La Purisima. Jaymes was generous to a fault, sharing his steadfast faith, ideas for ministry, and friendship over the years. We had meetings at his space at Holy Family, where we all received the treasured Jaymes' YM binders with all sorts of ideas, projects, retreats, prayers services, some of which were from our collaboration (Robin, Pasquale, Mike, Nancy, more along the way). My kids loved going to HF for days or activities sponsored by Jaymes. Even the most "toughened" or "care less" ones liked going, they appreciated Jaymes' authentic caring even when he told cheesy jokes as only Jaymes could with his large, "you're welcome" laugh. He was Jaymes, faithful, true, funny, caring, smart, and sometimes a pain, sharing God's love. May he rest with the angels, family, and friends in God's loving arms.

There aren’t enough words to describe my journey with Jaymes.  When I became the Youth Minister at St Norbert’s just down the street from St Justin Martyrs where Jaymes was the YM and Fr Pat was assigned.  Two great influences in my life. I shadowed Jaymes because I was always told to find someone the best at what they do and mirror them.  That was Jaymes.  I learned so much from him and dusted St Norbert’s YM with the “Jaymes” touch.  I also got him to facilitate our retreats.  I leaned a lot on    Jaymes, he was such a part of my faith journey and success of St Norbert’s Youth Ministry as well.  He was such a huge tree with many branches. Thanks Jaymes for being part of our lives and blessing us in so many ways. You will be truly missed. Rest in peace my friend. Job well done good and faithful servant. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Our family is so saddened by the loss of beautiful Jaymes.  He changed so many lives giving faith to a tremendous amount of youth through his ministry.  We pray that when he got to those pearly gates he was gifted with the knowledge of how he inspired so many and truly blessed those he encountered and moved to follow God and trust in him.  The strength that he gave…there are no words. Something as small as the God Got? Buttons he gave the kids moved people. My son put his on his football bag and sometimes just seeing that can change a person.  The ripple effect Jaymes had was magnificent.  We love you Jaymes. Our prayers are with you and your family.
