Jean Nesbett Morrison, 83, of Houston Passed away unexpectedly on November 19, 2020. A memorial service for Jean will be held on Tuesday, November 24th at 11:00 am in the chapel of Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Robert Besser officiating.
Jean was born on September 24, 1937 to Seaborn Mosely Nesbett, Sr. and Lillie Belle Fisher Nesbett. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her four children, Steven Morrison and his wife Karen Jones Morrison of Dallas, Blake Morrison of Galveston, Shannon Morrison of Houston and Shawn Morrison of Houston, her brother Seaborn Nesbett, Jr. and wife Connie Nesbett of Tyler, Nieces Sarah Nesbett Burkett and Karen Nesbett Gardiner, as well as her former husband Hackley Morrison III, and grandchildren Collin and Claire Gwin.
Jean grew up in Dallas, Austin and Galveston before her family settled in Houston in the early 1950s. There she attended Lamar High School, was married and raised her four sons. After several years as a homemaker, she obtained a degree in education from the University of Houston, and embarked on a long and successful career as a teacher.
Jean was an outgoing, steadfast, kind and loving mother, sister and friend. Her many talents included cooking, arts and crafts, and serving as a mentor and confidant to her fellow teachers. She had a soft spot for animals and kept many different pets over her lifetime. She was an avid reader and had read hundreds of books over the years. She was a devoted patron of the arts and attended countless performances at the Alley Theater and exhibits at the Houston Museum of Fine Arts. She was known for her upbeat personality and loving kindness to others. Her family and friends were her world, and she will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Houston SPCA at 7007 Old Katy Road, Houston, TX 77024.
