He enjoyed traveling, and he was fond of beachside vacations. He was a hardworking man who dedicated his life to his family. He could be stern, but he was a caring man with a good sense of humor.
Joe was born in Minden, West Virginia, in 1938, but grew up in Rush, Kentucky. He was a proud son of Beatrice and William Conley. His surviving siblings include Janet Conley, Jim Conley, Eddie Conley, and Debra Hartman. He was close to all of them. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Maria M. Conley, who loved him dearly to the end. He was the father of David Conley, William (Bobby) Conley, Melinda Moore, and his surviving son, Anthony Conley. He has three grandchildren, Kenny Moore, Andrea Conley, and Mariana Conley. He has extended family in Kentucky, Minnesota, and Texas.
He joined the United States Air Force in 1955 and served for 26 years. During this time, he traveled to more than 20 countries. This included time spent in Vietnam for which he received various medals including an AF Presidential Unit citation. Following retirement from the military, he focused on restaurant management. After a successful career in hospitality, he retired in McAllen, TX.
Those that knew him were blessed with his many endearing qualities, and they loved him dearly. He will be missed. May he rest in peace.
