

Judith Ann Volek died peacefully at the age of 87 years at home with her family on October 16, 2022. She is preceded in death by her brother, Richard Thomas Steele and sister, Gwendolyn Martha Steele. She is survived by Charles, her loving husband of 62 years, son Christopher David Volek, daughter Holly Dawn Smith, son-in-law Archie David Smith III, grandson Andrew David Smith, grandson Benjamin James Smith, and grand-dog Heather.
Judy was born May 5th,1935 in El Paso, Texas to Elsie Margaret and Thomas Alexander Steele. She graduated from El Paso’s Austin High School in 1953 and worked for El Paso Natural Gas Company as a computer key punch operator, taught Sunday school, and sang in the church choir. She met Charles Woody Volek in 1958 and they married in 1959. They spent most of their married life in Houston, Texas with two Shell Oil transfers to Southern California. After his retirement, Judy and Charles enjoyed traveling and helping with their grandchildren. Judy was a homemaker and prepared lovely home cooked meals for her family. She has been a member of several Lutheran churches and most recently, Trinity Downtown where she sang in the choir and served on the altar guild. A joyous funeral service will be held at Trinity Downtown on October 23rd, 2022 at 2 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to Trinity Downtown or LINC Ministries Int’l, both located at 800 Houston Ave, Houston, TX 77007.
