

Mark James Michalec, 58, of Houston, Texas ended his earthly life on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Mark was born on October 28, 1967 to James Peter and Mattie Belle (Parks) Michalec and was raised in West University in Houston, Texas. Mark married Rose Mary Chovanec in 1995 and they had three children, Morgan, Julia, and Jarett.
As a child, Mark loved playing baseball with West University Little League and had many fond memories of his baseball friends and coaches. He was a devoted son who was honored to spend time with his dad on paper route at 3:00 in the morning, followed each day with a treat of donuts, and many days fishing. As a child and a young man, he enjoyed working at J.M.H. grocery store #3 and later at J.M.H. grocery store #5 where he met Rose. As a young man, he joined the U.A. Plumbers Local 68. He was very proud to serve the Texas Medical Center, as well as many other jobs, for many years as a union plumber. As a father, Mark enjoyed family vacations, spending time at their house in Weimar, Texas, and watching his kids play West University softball and baseball. Mark was known for his great BBQ and potato salad as well as his sense of humor. He always had quit wit and a joke with you or about you! He was happy to be just a good ole boy.
Mark is preceded in death by his mother Mattie Belle Michalec, father James Peter Michalec, and father in law Frank Charles Chovanec. He is survived by his wife Rose, children Morgan, Julia, and Jarett, Brother Quintin Otto Michalec, Sisters Cora Lee and Peggy Sue Michalec, Mother in law Alice Chovanec, Brothers and Sisters In-law Frances (Chovanec) and Tim Miller, Carolyn Chovanec, Marilyn (Chovanec) and Dawlett Dawlett, nieces Susie Paul, Leah Dawlett, and nephews Ethan Dawlett and Matthew Miller, and not to forget the beloved family dogs Davon, Bullet, and Gus. He is also survived by many dear uncles, aunts, cousins, and extended family members who meant so much to him.
Visitation will be from 5:00-6:30 pm on Sunday, December 21 at Bellaire Earthman Funeral Home at 4525 Bissonnet Street, Bellaire, TX 77401. Rosary will follow at 6:30 pm.
Funeral will be on Monday, December 22 at 11:00 am at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 9900 Stella Link Road, Houston, TX 77025, followed by a luncheon and burial. Internment will be at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77077.
