Matthew loved being the comedian. He was so good at brightening up everyone’s day. He just had a hard time brightening up his own. Always joking, singing everything Alessia Cara wrote or songs from Les Miserables. Our son had a tender soul and a strong sense of humor. He was kind and had a fierce and unyielding love for his friends. Matthew would willingly share anything he had with others. He touched many lives in his short life and will be deeply missed.
Matthew loved music. He made attempts at learning the piano and even the cello, focusing on YoYo Ma. Earplugs always in his ears, either listening to Taylor Swift in his younger years, to Arianna Grande and Alessia Carr in later years. He loved being with our menagerie of animals in the house, Bella our dog, Draco our cat and his two Guinea pigs, Sprite and Pepsi. There are many a time you might have found Bella and him lying on the floor together. All this is merely an example of his sweet and caring soul.
Matthew is survived by his mother and father, Melissa and Jay Hachen, his brother, Joseph, and the many lives he touched along the way.
Many thanks to Dr Norma Clarke and Jennifer Chapple for the kindness and caring for our son. We are richer in our lives for having known and loved him and eternally grateful for having him in our lives.
A Visitation with Rosary will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church on Thursday, May 7th from 6-8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held there Friday May 8th at 9:00 AM followed by internment at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
