Former English teacher and world traveler Melanie Keller’s love of life didn’t come to an end with her death. Melanie passed away on Sunday, April 8, 2022 at the age of 80 after her second courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest and taking risks, just as she did.
Melanie’s biggest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially on vacations to Asia, Colorado, Nevada, New York City and, of course, Europe. Paris, France will always hold a special place in her heart, as will all of her friends and family. She spent her free time working on Baton Rouge apartments she owned near Louisiana State University, her alma mater. Melanie also shared a passion and talent for artwork, especially drawings and paintings.
While she loved to treat herself and her family, sometimes the simplest pleasures in life brought the greatest joy to Melanie. She loved quiet evenings watching movies with her husband, son and granddaughter, and always had an appreciation for birds and gardening. She had a giving heart, and loved providing cats in need with a warm home and plenty of food and love. Her strength was just as contagious as it was inspiring to everyone she met.
Melanie is survived by her son, Sam Streeter; a granddaughter, Jennifer Streeter; husband’s children, Arland and Nolan Jr.; husband’s grandchildren, Anna and Harrison; and is joining her deceased husband, Nolan Keller, in Heaven.
A visitation will be held Friday, April 22, 2022 from 11am to 1pm at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home with a graveside service for Melanie Friday, April 22, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, 13001 Katy Fwy, Houston, TX 77079.
