Norma Jean Rosales, beloved wife, mother, aunt, and godmother, entered eternal rest on May 17, 2026, just six days after joyfully celebrating her 90th birthday surrounded by her immediate family. Born on May 10, 1936, in Baytown, Texas, to Lisnardo and Carlotta Herrera, Norma Jean lived a life defined by love, humor, generosity, and devotion to family.
Known for her quick wit, thoughtful nature, and readiness to help others, Norma Jean brought warmth and laughter wherever she went. She graduated from Incarnate Word Academy, where she developed a love for home economics, and later studied Interior Design and Accounting at the University of Houston.
Her professional life began as a bookkeeper’s assistant at Levit Jewelers before continuing in accounting at Cooper Petroleum. After marrying her high school sweetheart and the great love of her life, Justino Rosales, she moved with him to Washington, D.C. Their marriage spanned 57 devoted years, built on loyalty, companionship, and enduring love.
Norma Jean was a devoted wife and mother who later worked as an accountant for orthopedic surgeon Dr. Page Nelson before finishing her career as a successful sales consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics. She especially enjoyed helping women feel confident in their beauty and skincare.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lisnardo and Carlotta Herrera; her beloved husband, Justino Rosales; her son, Nicholas Rosales; and Rosana's first husband, Monte Thedford.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosana Rosales, and her husband, Andrew Olah; her brothers, Robert and Jerry Herrera; her sister, Sharon Herrera Humbert; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, godchildren, and dear friends who will miss her deeply. She held a special place in her heart for Sebastian and Samantha Humbert, whom she considered the grandchildren she never had.
The family is especially grateful to the caregivers who brought Norma Jean comfort, dignity, and kindness during the last six years of her life following her recovery from Covid-19. Her humor, wisdom, stories, and loving spirit will remain with all who knew her.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 26, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 4525 Bissonnet Street, Bellaire, Texas. The Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m., followed by eulogies.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, Texas 77025. The rite of committal will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
