Ray worked for me 20 years ago in Houston (before he became a lawyer). He was always a really good guy. I was just thinking about him today and searched for him. I found the article, but I wasn't sure until I saw his photo. 20 years later his smile was still the same. Boyish, honest and open. You have my deepest condolences.

Ray brought much joy and wisdom to the Bellaire sports community. Garrett was coached by Ray on many teams and will never forget the valuable lessons taught by Ray. We will miss him dearly but remember him greatly.

Holan Family

I had the pleasure of working with Ray for the past seven years at MHI, and what a delight he was. Ray always  had a bright smile for everyone anytime, he never let on that he was too busy he was always just there.  We would talk Astros,he would always have a solution to what they needed to do. I will miss seeing him in the halls, the lobby, stairwell, anyplace he could find to pour over some important document.  What a comfort it must be for his family to know how well liked and respected he was.  Ray will be missed. Know that many prayers are going up on your behalf.

     Our hearts are so sad to learn of your loss. Ray was an incredible man, husband, dad and coach.  He was always smiling and had something nice to say to everyone he came in contact with. As Cole and Kendall's second grade teacher, I will always remember him  greeting them, at the end of the school day, with a big smile and a huge embrace. Jim will remember him as an outstanding coach with endless patience. He was always a competitor but he never waivered from his beliefs that all players/teams/umpires/ref's should be treated fairly and with respect. My heart hurts hearing of Ray's passing. I will never forget the memories I have of Ray and Den as we grew up together. Aside from the years of playing great rock-n-roll with Ray, my memories include shooting pool in the basement, playing basketball in the driveway, and always lifting weights together. Ray was a true joy to be around. He had a great sense of humor, was very intelligent, and was a true friend. The world will not be the same place without him. It was a pleasure to know Ray; being a lover of sports I enjoyed talking about his coaching and hearing about his team.  Ray never was to busy to give me that small piece of advice when necessary to make my job easier. Ray was a wonderful man, always a pleasure to talk to.  He touched everyone he came in contact with.  Our prayers are with his family that God gives you strength and peace.

We were all so deeply saddened to hear about Ray's passing.  Ray was one of the nicest people you would want to meet.  He always had a moment to talk to anyone who wanted to talk to him.  Memories of him walking the halls, holding papers, reading a contract, hiding in a corner, stairway, office, just to get a moment to read a contract in peace, since he was always sought out for some sort of advice. I had the wonderful opportunity of working with Ray at MHI. Ray was a brilliant man, with a caring smile. I am so saddened by his death. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

I will miss our discussions about the local sports teams and seeing him reviewing a document in the lobby next to the windows.  And I will miss his descriptions of the little league game that he coached the night before - he was so enthusiastic and dedicated to  his family and children.  He will be missed by many at MHI.  He touched so many of our lives in a wonderful way, by just being Ray.

Very sorry to hear about this, Ray was one of the punk brothers that hung out with our "clique" when Denny, Gryz, and Eddie would jam in the basement at the Holan home.  Ray picked up the keys and they used to play at my parties...I have special memories of the Holan boys and am so sorry to hear about Ray's sudden passing.  He was a smart kid, so I'm not surprised to learn he grew up to become an attorney.  Thoughts and prayers from our family.

I am so very sorry for your loss.  Ray and I were classmates from grades 1 thru 12 and I spent many days with both Ray and his brother Den. I wish I could have known Ray as a family man as well. It sounds like he was a great man!

Shocked and very sad.  I grew up with Ray and Denny in Cleveland.  We jammed out in the basement when we were young.  Ray played the key's, Denny played guitar, and myself, bass. Ray will be missed by so many.  He coached my son Charles in baseball, soccer and basketball.  Charles played baseball for Ray for 2 years.
