Ruth Anna Curry Weaver left life on Earth on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the age of 85. Ruth was born on December 4, 1940, in Tyler, TX, to Robert Curry and Elizabeth Mae Curry. She attended San Jacinto High School in Houston, TX. and graduated in 1959.
Ruth was a woman of faith and was baptized on March 26, 2006, at Tallowood Baptist Church. She became an active member of the Ruth Sunday School class and was a care group leader at one time. She was also involved with several Bible study groups.
Ruth began her career as an executive secretary for Exxon in Houston, where she met her future husband, Ray Weaver. Ruth and Ray were married on February 23, 1963, in Baytown, TX. They adopted their son Robert Ray (Robbie) as a newborn in 1966. Ray passed away unexpectedly of a massive heart attack on May 24, 1968. After only five years of marriage and a two-year-old son, Ruth continued to raise Robbie as a single parent with the help of family members. She moved to Houston to be near her sister and mother and lived in Houston until 2023, when she moved to Katy, TX.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, sister (Elizabeth Murrelle Curry), husband (Ray), and son (Robbie). She is survived by her stepdaughter, Donna Sue Weaver; two nieces, Linda Jarnagin and husband, Glenn, of Katy, TX, and Penny Stovall of Fayetteville, TX; and cousin, Elsa Dedman of Hawaii. She is also survived by numerous family members and close friends.
In accordance with Ruth's wishes, a memorial service will be held at Tallowood Baptist Church on Thursday, March 19, at 2pm. Ruth would be highly honored for donations in her memory to Tallowood Baptist Church.
