Dear Scott, in every role you played, you left your mark in the lessons that life teaches us...
On August 15, 1963 the Venezuelan land welcomed you to this world; where your first years were sown.
Since then you learned... to be loved by two Christian Missionary parents, Donald Smith and Doris Stull , who taught you the pleasant and perfect way of the Lord Jesus Christ.
You learned from the company, games and mischief of your sisters Sherie and Debbie and brothers Steve and Douglas, as siblings do.
You learned the pain of saying goodbye to a mother, and knowing that her love would remain forever in the protective gaze of your older sister, Sherie.
When you received your college diploma from HBU, you worked guided by your talent and you learned that dedication brings merit.
You learned of friendship and its ups and downs, in work, in neighbors, in those who stayed and those who went.
You learned the joy of being lovingly called uncle by your closest and sweet nieces Andrianna Linder and Michelle (Feux) Delgado.
You learned that God surprises us in Love, because your heart was anchored in a Venezuelan: Miss Heylin Guillen, “my brown eyes girl” or ‘’baby’’ as you called her, that unconditional friend who stayed by your side for 32 years, from which you learned that the threads of yarn can be woven to give warmth, that work can be a source of joy when we do it with passion, and with her you gained one more caring sister Haidee Scetti, two brothers and an extended Venezuelan family that loved you very much.
You also had the privilege to learn the most difficult and beautiful task in life, "to be a father”. That blond and restless offspring whom you called Daniel, came to teach you that life does not stop, that emotions are drawn on the face and that intelligence with wisdom achieves goals; that we walk forward and learn every day and we do not stop learning....
That is why today, in the face of your departure, in this moment of deep pain, it is also time to learn, and we will learn:
We’ll learn that even though we can’t listen to your voice, we can smile at the memory of it;
We’ll learn that even in the absence of your presence at home, your good spirit will always permeate the rooms;
We’ll learn to go shopping or share dinner together; and take into account what you would have said, for it was always wise.
We’ll learn to pray giving thanks to God for the life you shared with us, and no longer anguish over your pain.
We’ll learn to live knowing that you are happy with Our Lord, knowing that one day we will meet again when He calls us to His presence.
We’ll celebrate your life and what you taught us with your time here, thanks for your kindness, Dear Scott.
He is survived by his beloved wife of of 33 years, Heylin Guillen Smith; son Daniel Alexander Smith; father Donald R. Smith; siblings, Steven and Lana Smith, Douglas and Janey Smith, Sherie (Smith) Feux, Dave and Debra (Smith) Rodgers; brother-in-law Dan Feux, sister-in-law Haidee (Guilen) Scetti & spouse Claudio Scetti, brothers-in-law Alexander & Eliecer Guilen; and Venezuelan nieces Claudia & Paola Scetti, Venezuelan nephew Israel Scetti and several extended family.
