

On August 15, 1946 she entered the Convent of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament, Houston, Texas. She made final Profession of Vows on August 15, 1952.
After graduating from high school, she received her college degree from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas and her Masters Degree at Clark College, Dubuque, Iowa.
Sister ministered in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston and the Diocese of Beaumont and Austin. During the years, she has served as Teacher, Principal, Director of Religious Education, RCIA, Third Age and Youth Ministry, Ministry to the Homebound and Nursing Home visitations, etc. In Houston she ministered in several parishes: St. Theresa, Blessed Sacrament, St. Vincent de Paul, Annunciation and Holy Name. She served the people of God at St. James, Port Arthur, and Assumption in Beaumont, St. Joseph, Baytown, and Sacred Heart in La Grange. Teaching Religious Education in Bridge City, St. Ann, Tomball, and St. Philip the Apostle, Huffman, has been a great part of Sister's ministry.
During her years of retirement Sister worked with the Legion of Mary and also with the Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed visiting with her family and she organized the games for her family reunion and enjoyed them as much as the children.
Sister Elizabeth Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Frank Martin Gabriel and two brothers, Robert and Joseph Gabriel. She is survived by her sister, Rosie Mock, nieces, nephews and numerous good friends.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Incarnate Word Convent Chapel at 3400 Bradford Place, Houston, Texas, followed by the Wake Service. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at the convent Chapel on Monday, January 13, 2014 with Rev. Albert Gaelens, C.S.B., celebrant. Rite of Committal will follow in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
