

Sofia Casale ,96, left us peacefully at home with her daughter Carolyn present on November 17, 2010. She went to join her beloved husband Amerigo and her daughters Norma and Claudia. Mrs. Casale was born in Boston, Ma. on February 8, 1914. As a child her family moved to upstate New York. Mr. and Mrs. Casale moved the family to Houston in 1953. She has lived in the same house in Braeswood with her daughter Carolyn to the present. Mrs. Casale was a fantastic mother, always there to help, suggest, support, give advice or fix. She was a teacher of values,a wonderful homemaker, her Christmas cookies were famous. She was full of wit and charm and a good friend to her friends and neighbors and her children’s friends. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Casale is preceded in death by her niece Kim Horner and loving son-in-law John Ben Taub. Mrs. Casale is survived by her loving daughter, Carolyn Casale Taub and son Robert Casale; sisters Helen Rogers and Julia Cosentino; brother-in –law Albert Casale; grandchildren, Natalie Casale, Barclay Ridge and wife Christina, Cindy Rivera; great-grandchildren, Emily, Barclay Jr., and Elizabeth Ann Ridge, Charles Harrington, Herbert, John, and Matthew Rivera; Great-great grandchildren, Jacob and Holden Rivera; niece Linda Dickey and husband David; nephew, John Donaleski III and wife Sherry; great nephews, John Donaleski IV, Chris and Tim. A Special thanks to Stella Chidoka RN who followed her care religiously for over 3 years. A Visitation and Rosary will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, November 21, 2010 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway. A Funeral Mass will be held 1:30 p.m., Monday, November 22, 2010 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery.
