

Thomas Enos Bourgeois, age 93, passed away November 5, 2011. He was born on January 24, 1918 in Franklin, Louisiana. During his childhood he lived in Baton Rouge, where he attended Catholic schools. Tom was a graduate of LSU and the University of Houston. He proudly served his country during WWII in the Air Force. After discharge, he moved with the family to Houston. Tom worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. and the Texas Employment Commission from which he retired. For over 50 years, he was a devoted member of the Legion of Mary, through which he served as a Catholic chaplain at the Harris County jail. Tom has been a parishioner at St. Thomas More Catholic Church since 1974.
Tom was preceded in death by his sister, Anna Louise Rauer. He is survived by his wife, Laura McGread, whom he married January 12, 1974. Also surviving him are his siblings, Mary K. Bourgeois, George A. Bourgeois, Janice M. Bourgeois, and Katherine B. Burda, and nieces, Frances Rauer, Diana Pombier, Adrienne Johnson, Emily Donihoo, Marlene Wark, Kathleen Benelli, and Denise Haley, and nephews, Michael Rauer and Charles Bourgeois.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at Earthman Bellaire Funeral Home, 6700 Ferris. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 10330 Hillcroft St., Houston, TX 77096. Rite of Committal will follow at Houston National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Thomas More Catholic Church or the Magnificat House, 3300 Caroline St., Houston, TX 77004.
