Wendy passed peacefully in the early morning hours of March 26, 2018. She had suffered a major seizure on the morning of February 27, by infections caused by an in-flamed gallbladder. Wendy was the 4th child of Doug and Betty Weirauch, in Milwaukee, WI. She was an Honor Student and she receive a scholarship to Lawrence University in Appleton, WI.
She moved to Houston in 1980 via a standard Gremlin without a/c. Wendy came to Texas because it is much warmer than Wisconsin. She quickly found her career in the energy industry as Managing Editor of Hydrocarbon Processing at Gulf Publishing. Wendy loved life and enjoyed going to Jazzercise twice a week for 26 years. She quickly adopted Houston as her home and enjoyed the rich culture of the city: the singer/songwriters at Anderson Fair, Renaissance Festival, Bayou City Art Show, Marfreless bar, the Art Car Parade, live theater, and many other things. Her favorite radio station is KPFT.
What she loved best about Houston was the weather (barring hurricanes) and the proximity to the beach, especially Galveston, She was a shell collector and combed the beaches looking for rare shells. Also, Wendy just could not believe that you can jump into a pool and still be warm. Wendy made many lifelong friends. She believed messages were very important. They needed to be written on special paper with stickers, confetti and cool postage to send a letter off. Even better, Wendy loved receiving letters and cards from friends and family – texting was not an option to send her a message.
Wendy is survived by her husband of 34 years John L Gay, her sisters Gail Chester and Lynn Lamphere. Her brothers Doug and Gregg Weirauch, several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many very dear friends.
