

Clemens “Carl” Winkler, 83, of Belleville, Illinois passed away on Friday, October 17, 2014 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville. Carl was born April 10, 1931 in Belleville, the oldest child of Clemens and Lily Winkler.
He was a United States Army Veteran and served in the Korean War. On June 4, 1955 he married Margaret Lippert in Belleville.
Carl retired as a cartographer from the Defense Mapping Agency Aerospace Center in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1986. He was a member of Community of Christ Church and the NRA. A lifelong railroad enthusiast, Carl never tired of pursuing his hobbies of railroad photography and HO scale model railroading.
Surviving are his loving and devoted wife, Margaret L., nee Lippert, Winkler; sister, Lilly Beth Hovda, and sister-in-law, Linda Winkler. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and other relatives, family and friends.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Clemens Winkler and Lily, nee Nicholson, Winkler Nash; step father, Harry Nash; brother, Phillip Winkler, sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen (Orville) Fritz; and a brother-in-law, Lee Hovda.
