

David was a talented musician, playing in many different bands over a 50-year career, currently as a member of the band, Doc Holiday. He played bass guitar and lead vocals, specializing in classic rock and country music. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a lifetime member of the St. Charles VFW Post 2866. He loved to discuss politics and proudly supported the founding principles of America. He was fascinated by the supernatural and anything that most people could not explain. He owned and operated, “Who’s There? Paranormal Investigation Company”. He volunteered his time to the Disabled American Veterans, DAV, in Granite City. He was a loving father and grandfather that will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Margaret, nee White, Spier and a sister, Debbie Lynn Spier, in infancy.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his significant other, Shari Hall, of Granite City, Illinois, his children, Kara (Eric) Wakefield, of St. Clair, Missouri, Andrew (Bailey) Spier, of Orlando, Florida, Austin (Ashley) Spier, of Highland, Illinois, and Collin (Amber) Spier, of Trenton, Illinois; his grandchildren, Emily, Shelby, Katelyn, Ty, Brantley, Rowen, Allyce, and Emmett; his sibings, Dennis (Laura) Spier, Rick Spier, Patty Figura, Marcia Moore, Rita (John) Brady, Lisa (Joe) Spier, and Donna (Paul) Combs; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral: Due to current Covid-19 mitigations, services will be held privately with Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home. Interment will be held at a later date in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri.
