Eugenie "Jeanie" Emily Hanson

Jeanie was born January 12, 1924 in Germany to Christian and Fredricka Bacher. She married Alvan Hanson on October 29, 1956; he preceded her in death on July 10, 2007.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and eleven siblings.

Jeanie is survived by her children, Gabi Huber of Belleville, IL, Helena (Marvin) Schultz of Collinsville, IL, Raymond Hanson of Yoder, CO and Ralph (Denise) Hanson of Bellevue, NE; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jeanie worked as a dietitian for Calvin Johnson Care Center for 17 years.

She stayed active throughout her life with cooking, pottery and tending to her garden. She was actively involved with the Women’s Auxiliary NCO Club on Scott Air Force Base.

She loved her time spent volksmarching with a German walking group, where she traveled the nation and proudly walked in all 50 states.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Belleville Humane Society.

A private family memorial service will be held under the direction of Valhalla Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.
