Hugh attended Sacred Heart High School and graduated in the class of ‘66. He later went on to obtain an Associates of Air Traffic Control and a Masters in Aviation Management from Embry-Riddell Aeronautical University. Hugh had a prolific career in the United States Air Force; he was promoted Chief Master Sergeant and served for 53 years (28 years active duty). Over the years, he was stationed at Lackland (TX), Kindley (Bermuda), Incirlik (Turkey), Sheppard (TX), Williams (AZ), Clark (Phillipines), Shinia (AK), Davis Monthan (AZ), Griffiss (NY), MacGuire (NJ), and Scott (IL) air force bases.
Hugh’s proudest achievement was his two children, Michelle and Kevin. He was an avid outdoorsman, he loved birds, nature and boating; he also enjoyed baseball and other sports.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Vernice, and his infant siblings, Christopher and Jude.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Michelle (Steve) Dunn and Kevin (Tracey) Westman; grandchildren, Kevin Jr. and Adam Westman; siblings, Aline (Merv) Gaff, Antony (Nadine) Singleton, Bill Singleton, Donald (Kim) Singleton, Michael (Susie) Singleton, Geri Spangler, Sandra Oowald; plus fourteen nieces and nephews. Hugh was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or to Disabled American Veterans.
