Jill was born to Sadie and Harry “Bud” Jacquot of East St. Louis, IL. At just nine months old, she contracted polio, which led to severe post-polio syndrome. Though this limited her mobility and ability to communicate, it never diminished the love she gave or the profound impact she had on those around her. Jill is believed to have been among the longest-living survivors of severe polio.
Her longevity was made possible by the loving care she received from her family across several generations, beginning with her parents, Bud and Sadie; her sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Jon Allard, Sr.; and was lovingly cared for throughout her life by her nephews, Jon Allard Jr. and Chris Allard, all of Belleville. Jill spent most of her life in the Allard home, where her sister Carol devoted herself to her care with extraordinary compassion and dedication. Following Carol’s passing in 2019, Jill continued to share a warm and joyful home with Jon Sr. and Chris, enjoying simple but meaningful traditions—morning breakfasts, family suppers, holiday and birthday celebrations, and Hallmark movie weekends.
Jill found great joy in music, especially the songs of Elvis Presley, and she had a special love for holidays—particularly Christmas, which, for her, began each summer with Hallmark’s “Christmas in July.” She delighted in sending holiday cards to those she cherished, including Tina Embrey, who helped care for her in recent years, and Louise Schwartz, who styled her hair for more than 60 years. Jill also held dear the enduring friendships of the extended Allard family, including Sandy, Mark and Kathy, Mark and Lynn, Randy and Sandy, and many others who showed her kindness and care throughout her life.
She is also survived by her nieces, Abby and Katie Allard, and her nephew Sam Allard, along with their mother, Tracy Cooper.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Ardent Hospice and Palliative Care for their compassionate care and support during Jill’s final months.
Memorial Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, April 24 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 8707 W. Main St., Belleville, IL.
