Lenard J. Girard, 96, of Belleville, IL passed away peacefully on November 7, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Adeline Girard; a brother, Lawrence Girard and sisters, Ethel (Otho) Hopewell and Earline (Robert) Upchurch. Lenard is survived by his wife of 48 years, Beverly (nee Loeffler) Girard; his daughter, Stacy Schoemaker; grandson, Samuel Schoemaker; and brother, Gary (Pat) Girard.
Lenard is proud veteran of WWII serving in the US Navy. He was a musician who thoroughly enjoyed entertaining everyone. He could play just about any instrument but the trombone was his passion. He always walked around singing and whistling—even in his final days at Cedar Ridge in Lebanon. He loved to entertain and make people happy. Lenard also loved being outdoors and spent many days sunning and fishing. He and Beverly owned the Treasures and Trash Antique Store in Belleville and they enjoyed collecting and sharing antiques with the community. His sunny disposition will be missed!
A committal service with military honors will be held at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, 3412 Frank Scott Pkwy W, Belleville at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, November 20, 2019.
