Robert A. Scheibel, 60, of Sparta, Ill., born June 8, 1949, in Belleville, Ill., died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, Ill.Mr. Scheibel attended High Mount School, graduated from Belleville Township High School in 1967, and was a veteran of the United States Army. Later he worked for St. Clair Township and then he retired from the Belleville Fire Department. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed taxidermy, hunting, and training Labradors for hunting.He was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Scheibel and a nephew, Mark Howard.Surviving are his mother, Shirley, nee Schobert, Scheibel of Swansea, Ill.; a sister, Carol (James) Woods of Roby, Mo.; nieces, nephews, other relatives; long time friend and hunting buddy, Sonny Roedersheimer, and many friends.Memorials are appreciated to the American Cancer Society .Visitation: Friends may call from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, Illinois.Funeral: Memorial Services will be held at 4:00 P.M.
