Russell served with the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam war and later served in the U.S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Claudine, nee Seidler, Voke; a brother, Floyd Voke; and a sister, Joann Ohlendorf.
Surviving are his sisters, Patsy London of Waterloo, IL, Elizabeth (Ronald) Blackburn of Albers, IL, Rose Voke of Belleville, IL, and Barbara (Fred) Weineke of Alton, IL; a brother-in-law, Jack Ohlendorf of Golden Eagle, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
