Ginger was born February 22, 1943 in East St. Louis, IL to Omer and Myrtle L. (Berndt) Collins.
Ginger married Edward “Tim” O’Malley on April 2, 1966; he preceded her in death on November 12, 2010.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert Wayne Collins.
Ginger is survived by her four children, Michele (Mark) Dyroff, Tammie O’Malley, Dodie O’Malley and Tim O’Malley; grandchildren, Christopher (Ngina) Dyroff and their daughter, Michele, Cody Wood, Jacob (Briana) Wood, Nicholas Wood and Brandon Wood.
Ginger passed away peacefully, leaving behind a life full of kindness, faith, and simple joys.
She worked at Kmart in the Hallmark card department. She later spent a short time in banking before working many years as a door greeter at Walmart in Waterloo, where she was known for her friendly smile and warm welcome. She eventually retired from there.
Ginger loved sewing, shopping, baking, and doing crafts. Most of all, she loved Jesus, and her faith showed in the way she treated others with kindness and joy. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.
