Ginny worked for Alcoa and retired from Alton/Southern Railroad, as an executive secretary. She and her husband, Fred Ruff, Jr., were one of the original owners of Bel-Air Bowl on North Belt West in Belleville.
She was a staunch Belleville advocate all her life. Ginny was an avid bowler and won many awards. She traveled the country in bowling tournaments and loved traveling all over the world.
She was a member of the BWBA Hall of Fame and the BWBA 600 Club. She was a life member of the Memorial Hospital Axillary, National Association of Railway Business Women and was baptized at Christ United Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Marie, nee Remstahl, Berghahn; her husband, Fred Ruff, Jr., her two brothers, Rudolph and Eugene Berghahn; four sisters, Elsie Draper, Eileen Beelman, Dorothy Berghahn, and Lucille Keller; her two special cousins, Gary Rettle and Audrey Forness; a niece, Jill Odom; and many other relatives.
She is survived by her nephew, Richard (Susan) Beelman, of Swansea, Illinois, two nieces, Sister Elleen Marie Beelman, of St. Louis, Missouri and Joy Whitford, of Goddard, KS; many great and great great nieces and nephews and in-laws.
Ginny loved her little apartment at St. Paul’s and the great care provided by her nurses and staff. Her spunky nature will be missed by all who knew her.
Funeral: Due to current Covid-19 mitigations, services will be held privately with Valhalla Gaerdner Holten Funeral Home, Belleville, Illinois. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Belleville Illinois.
