Deborah Lee Childs, known to her loved ones as Dee/Deb, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, WA, at the age of 71.
She was born on April 9, 1953, in Seattle, WA; she attended Bellevue High School and Western Washington College.
Deborah was a dedicated and loving wife of 40 years, with a passion for the Papillon breed of dogs. She spent her time taking care of Nicholas and the household while still finding time to travel to dog shows and engage in activities for the breed, winning or placing in many shows with ribbons. Deborah was very knowledgeable in breed and shared with many freely.
A special thanks and appreciation to all she loved and enjoyed those who supported her and Nicholas during this time of closure. Also, a special thanks to Karen Murad, Nancy Radich, and Tammie Wilcox for finding homes and taking in our four remaining Papillons for re-homing.
Deborah is survived by her husband Nicholas John Bronesky; she was my love, my pal, my buddy, and my friend. She was also survived by her brother William "Bill" Childs, married to Kristina Childs, with one daughter, Audrey; her sister Amee Hanson, married to Dana Hansen, with one daughter, Anja; and her sister Jessica Childs Johnson, married to Jackie Johnson, with one son, Connor, and one daughter, Lexi. She was preceded in death by her father Frank, her mother Marlene Childs, and her nephew Drew Hansen.
Deborah was a certified furrier for many years, working for Nordstrom and Fredrick & Nelson. She also excelled as a jeweler due to her love for design. She worshipped at Overlake Christian Church for many years in Redmond, WA, and later at Abundant Life Christian Church in Orting, WA, for 11 years. Her love for Jesus was well cemented as she looked forward to the day, she would go home to be with Him, her dad and mom, nephew Drew, and her Maid of Honor and best friend Lita Gladding. No more pain, no more sickness.
“They are dancing in heaven as she arrives home.”
Her hobbies included the study of breeding, handling, and showing the Papillon breed of dogs, having whelped and placed over 87 Papillons with loving homes. She was always broadening her network of friends for the breed.
A graveside service will be held at Sunset Hills Memorial Park on Friday, April 12, at 2:30 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 3:00 PM in the chapel. Parking is available in front of the chapel and the gravesite is close, approximately 50 yards to the south.
