Passed away following a very brief illness in Bellevue, Washington July 8, 2017
At age 17 mom spent the next six years of her life in a sanitarium due to a diagnosis of tuberculosis. At this time she completed her high school work and received her BA in history.
Prior to mom’s life in trilogy she worked at the Seattle Museum of Flight as education director and assistant director of the facility.
In these roles her first task as assistant director was to move the red barn down the Duwamish river way to it’s present location on Boeing Field. She was given three days to complete the task or the red barn would be demolished. As we all know she succeeded and the red barn is now enjoyed by thousands each year.
As educational director she filled her car with aerospace memorabilia including moon rocks and drove to many schools each year inspiring space exploration in thousands of children annually.
Early on after moving to trilogy mom found herself in organizations such as trilogy for kids, children's hospital guild, book club, red hat and others. Her favorites however became her three weekly bible studies, her work supporting the military and the shoe box ministry of samaritan's purse. With the military she would pack boxes each month with necessities along with extra goodies for our soldiers around the world. She rarely went to a store without seeing what extra little item she could buy. The shoe box ministry took place each November. Mom would search all year for treasures to pack in a shoe box that would be given to children around the world. These children would not otherwise have a Christmas gift.
With her bible studies it did not matter the time or day you would call her, she would be studying for one of the groups. Everyone mattered to mom. Her home was always open for a party, a cup of tea or just conversation. Many residents around trilogy enjoyed receiving her birthday cards.
Mom loved people and was always willing to help, listen, or pray whenever and however possible.
