Harold M. Brownell, Major, USAF-Retired, age 81, of Bellevue, Washington, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2014. He was a born in Colfax, Washington. He is survived by his brothers Larry and Bill, his step-brother Gordon, his wife Bea, his two children and their mother, and three grandchildren. Major Brownell graduated from Class 550H, Reese AFB, Texas. He served in the 42nd Air Refueling Squadron as Squadron Commander, 42nd Bombardment Wing out of Loring AFB, Maine and and Altus AFB, Oklahoma flying the KC-135 and C-7A. Major Brownell earned numerous military awards, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, three air medals, and two commendation medals. He earned membership in the KC-135 2,000 Hour club. Maj. Brownell retired after twenty years of service on March 1, 1973. Following retirement, he was a member of the Retired Officers Association/Military Officers Association of America.
Services will be help September 8, 2014, at 1:15 p.m. at the Tahoma National Cemetary, Kent, Washington. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Lung Association or the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
