

Beloved husband and father John Edward Cotton, Jack to his family and friends, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early morning hours of January 24th 2015 at the age of 90, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s.
Jack was born December 21st 1924 to Harold and Priscilla in Minneapolis Minnesota, where he found his love of ice skating and the outdoors.
Jack served his country in the U.S. Army from 1943 – 1946 in the European Theater in France and Germany. Among his medals earned during his service are the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
On June 9th 1951 Jack was happily married to Katherine Claire Thornton. He completed his Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree and spent 29 years as a Research Chemist for Boeing Airplane Company after receiving his Doctorate of Philosophy in Chemistry from the University of Oregon.
His free-time was spent with family and friends camping and hiking in the beautiful National parks of the country he loved and photographing them all.
He was preceded in death by his brother James, his sister Barbara and his daughters Elizabeth and Mary. He is survived by Claire, his wife of 63 years, 6 children, 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and his brother Randy.
