

John Frank Derrig was a great husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. He was born on August 30th 1943 to Jack and Esther Derrig at Maynard Hospital in Seattle. He grew up in Bellevue Washington and attended Bellevue Elementary, Bellevue Jr. High and graduated from Bellevue High School in 1961. He attended University of Washington and graduated from Central Washington University.
John had many jobs that started at the age of 13, Hal's Sport Shop, Pruss' '76 Union Gas Station, Ibsen Towing. He worked at Boeing for 33 years.
One of John's biggest passions was skiing. He taught his whole family to ski and taught many years for Boeing Ski School and primarily for ULLR/Bellevue Ski School. As a family, there were many ski vacations to Schweitzer, Crystal, Ski Acres and Sun Valley.
John was diagnosed with Renal failure in 1983. He impressively survived 30 years of dialysis and countless operations and "procedures".
John lived a very full life. Married Jean in 1968, had two daughters, Kristin 1972 and Leslie 1975. He stayed very busy doing many activities on the lake, playing sports and of course skiing. Plus many car and home projects along the way.
John was very active with the Northwest Kidney Centers. He served on the board for many years. He would have greatly appreciated any donations on his behalf to be made to the Northwest Kidney Centers at www.nwkidney.org
