Is there ANYbody who knew Larry who would not say he was one of the most WONderful people, one of the GREATest guys they EVER met?  I don't believe so.  Larry...you were a way cool guy - someone I was proud to know.  One of the neatest guys on earth.  You will be sorely missed.  God bless Larry.

So sorry to hear about Larry!  Another good one, gone too soon.  Cheryl, Annie, Carrie...  my thoughts and prayers are with you.  I remember when Annie was born and then Carrie, how proud Larry was and how much he loved you.  Also remember driving to work in Seattle, and seeing a guy running down the street to catch the crosswalk light.  Didn't even need to see his face to know it was Larry.  He had a signature run, didn't he?  :)  What a great guy... always kind and fun to be around. I know he will be dearly missed.

Larry was a very special friend. The kind that may only come along once in a lifetime! And I feel Blessed to have shared so many fun and enjoyable moments in time with my Lar. 

I will sincerely miss his sweet smile, laughter, and gentle soul. But I will continue to hold Larry in my heart and forever cherish all of the beautiful memories.

Larry was my best friend.  The kindest, most caring person I knew.  His drumming skills were amazing!  We played just about every state in the union together.  I will always remember him as the guy who kept me on my toes.  I will truly miss him.

I have worked with Brad Mercer for the past couple years. We are good friends. I have heard many many stories of wonderful times with Larry. I have seen him on video many times. He was an awesome musician and very funny. I have sent this link to Brad and I am 100% sure he will write very soon. We just video taped something for Larry this morning. Larry was one of the "good Ones" He will be missed by even the people who never got the priviledge to have known him personally. Sincerely

I met Larry in 1978 when he was playing in the Brad Mercer band. My brother in law was the musical director and I went to see them in Stockton, California. Larry was easy to get to know, personable and a cool guy. At the end of 1979 I was asked to join the band (they must have been pretty hard up for guitar players back then). Larry became one of my best friend's after that and we were together much of the time. 

We all lived at Shari Blue's house in Woodland Hills while we played in the show. Over the years after he moved to Mercer Island we stayed in touch and visited once in a while. Larry and Annie Jensen were also close (Annie is a dear friend and was Pam's maid of honor in 1981). The four of us went on several trips together. Larry was supposed to spend last labor day with us but for whatever reason couldn't make it down. There is no way I ever thought that would have been the last time I ever saw him. It took awhile for this to sink in and it is very sad. You will be thought of often and missed forever Larry.

Larry and I became best friends in 4th grade and over all these years, we managed to visit or stay in touch. Larry and his family treated me with respect. Larry never judged me and was (and always will be) my best friend for life - and beyond. I miss my friend Larry, his sister Wendy and his parents Raymond and Florence. And I miss the times we interacted with Larry's brother, David - mostly irritating David when he did his studying at UCLA. Yes, I remember most everything!

Larry and I played in band class from day one. Every day we would load his tuba into his mother's car then he and I would walk home, me struggling with my drum case - that wore a hole in my pants. Larry would tandem with me carrying that awkward thing several blocks. I think it made our right arms longer...

I also have the distinguished honor to honestly say - I was the very first person to compose a song with Larry! We created this riff in his room that we titled "Circle." I on the snare drum, and Larry was on the flute. His parents seemed impressed at the time! I was so impressed at how many instruments Larry could play back then. And when he was on the road performing with Brad Mercer, I was not surprised at his honed talent with that band. I also had the privilege to "jam" a little in his basement on Mercer Island somewhere near 1980 while visiting him. Wendy was visiting there at the same time so it was a wonderful time to be with them!

Please accept my sincerest condolences to Larry's family and friends. Larry was my role model when we were kids and still so to this day. I have volumes of great stories to tell Larry's daughters, Cheryl and whoever else would enjoy these wonderful recaps.  I also have very recent emails of Larry and I discussing this bond...

Larry and I were in a band together in the mid eighties. I had a great time working with him. He was very easy going with a great sense of humor. He was an one of those drummers who could play in most any style and sing harmonies too. His quick smile and positive energy made rehearsals and performances a lot of fun. He will be sorely missed.

In the mid-1980s, Larry, John, Doug and I played in a band we called, at one time, The Working Stiffs. We always practiced in Larry's basement, usually once or twice a week, over the course of what?... perhaps a couple of years or so. (I still have one or two videos of us rehearsing, plus a 1986 "house party" video of us playing a 40+/--minute show, if Larry's family is interested.) Often, when it got too late, we'd have to stop rehearsing, then we'd go upstairs to have a beer and watch "Almost Live!" Larry was a pleasant, fun, happy, talented guy. (I remember one time we were in the middle of a song when I, the bass player, turned to Larry and said "Shuffle beat," and we, the rhythm section, immediately went from a straight 4 into a shuffle beat, which took Doug, the lead guitar player, by surprise, and he turned around to smile at us for this unexpected twist, then we all switched back to a straight 4 at the next convenient turnaround without saying a word. Larry and I often worked well together as the rhythm section.) I haven't kept in touch with Larry since we disbanded over 20 years ago, but I still have fond memories of the countless times we hung out together in those old days. Goodbye, old pal.

I met Larry when I was 10 years old and never in the 15 years since had I heard him utter a negative word of anyone else. He was always in high spirits, a little goofy, and always a pleasure to be around. The world is a lesser place without him.

Larry was my high school bud.  We spent a great deal of time together back then and I also had the priviledge of getting to know his sister, Wendy, and his Mom and Dad, Florence and Ray.  I met his brother, David, but did not have a chance to get to know him. Larry and I went separate ways after school and even though I haven't seen him for more than 20 years, I still have fond and warm memories of him and his family.  I'm sorry that he's gone. My heartfelt condolences to his family.

I had the privilege of playing music with Larry for nearly 16 years.  He was a great drummer and band teammate.  More importantly, he was a great friend.  I'm very grateful for his friendship and support over the years.  Our thoughts and prayers go to his family and friends, particularly his two lovely daughters.  You are the wonderful legacy left by this very good man.
