Arlie Gregorius was born Margaret Arlene Hensel in Seattle on March 26, 1934. She grew up in Arlington. In 1950, Arlie moved back to the Seattle area where she got her first job at Chace’s Coffee Corral. She worked for Bill Chace in a variety of positions from waitress to management to owner. She went from the Coffee Corral in Seattle to Chace’s Pancake Corral in Bellevue. She remained loyal to the Chace Company for 68 years!
Arlie moved to Tacoma in 2017 to be closer to family. Amazingly, she was able to purchase the house right next door to her daughter, Deborah. Since the Pancake Corral was too far to commute, Arlie “retired” at the age of 83.
Arlie was a master at scrapbooking and making personal cards and gifts for family and friends for decades. Her craft room was packed with every imaginable tool to create whatever you could imagine. This was her passion.
Arlie hosted a family BBQ the summer of 2009. It brought her so much joy that “Arlie’s Annual BBQ” became a tradition.
As a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Arlie enjoyed gathering there with friends for bingo, conversation and music.
Arlie passed away on February 17th in the comfort of her home while surrounded by family. She was about 5 weeks away from her 90th birthday. Officially, she passed at age 89, but we will lovingly credit her with 90 years of life. That would make her happy. Arlie was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Gregorius, Sr. She is survived by her adult children: Deborah Dolan (Jack), Daryl Patrick (Theresa), Barry Patrick (Nancy); Vic Gregorius (Catherine), Teresa Gregorius (George), Garry Gregorius (Karen), and Anthony Gregorius (Roz); 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter.
