10/11/1957 - 5/23/2017
Mary passed away peacefully at her home in Medina, Washington, on Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017 after a courageous nine year battle with breast cancer. She was surrounded by her family: her husband of 35 years, Michael; her parents, Tom and Patricia Holloran of Wayzata, MN; her sister and brother-in-law, Anne Holloran and Curt Deering of Minneapolis, MN; her children, Danny and Maria, and Maria's fiancé, John Boesche. Mary was born in Minneapolis and moved to Christmas Lake at age 4. She attended St. John the Baptist Grade School and graduated from Minnetonka High School in 1976. Mary earned a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Minnesota and a Masters Degree in Special Education from St. Thomas University. Mary taught special education in the Orono School District in Minnesota. In spring of 1983, Mary and Michael moved to Bellevue, WA and Mary taught at CHILD School. Mary volunteered at Bellevue Schools in the classroom and as a nurse. She was active in the religious education program at her church, St. Madeline Sophie.
Mary's greatest joy was her family, and the love of her life, Mike. Her greatest pride was her amazing children, Danny and Maria. Mary enjoyed raising her children and participating in their activities often as room mom or team mom. Mary had so many friends she truly loved everywhere she went, including her homes in Sun Valley and Scottsdale. Mary was an excellent skier and enjoyed tennis, hiking, and visiting national parks.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Mary's honor to the Ladybug House (ladybughouse.org) or Swedish Hospital Cancer Care (www.swedishfoundation.org/cancer).
