

Mary Jane Bennett (Jane) passed away on March 17, 2021 resting peacefully at her home at Aljoya Thornton Place. Her three children and her daughter-in-law were with her when she passed. Born in Seattle, Washington, on April 28, 1927, she was 93 years old.
Jane was married to Joseph Robert Bennett (Bob) in August, 1947. With career changes and military service, they lived in New York, New Jersey, France, and Southern California before returning to Washington in 1959. They acquired several sailing and power boats after returning to Washington, and had a passion for boating throughout the Salish Sea, including the San Juan Islands, Canadian Gulf Islands, and Desolation Sound. They also enjoyed travelling to various destinations in Europe, Asia, and the US.
Jane had a career as a Psychiatric Social Worker at the Eastside Community Mental Health Center after earning the degrees of Bachelor of Arts Cum Laude from Seattle University in 1968 and Masters of Social Work from the University of Washington in 1972. She also worked at the Crisis Clinic in Seattle and served as a Practicum Instructor at the University of Washington in 1978.
Jane and Bob celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before Bob passed away in 1997. She is survived by her three children, Jacqueline Myers, John Bennett, and Teri Huntley, their spouses, Pat Myers, Shari Bennett, and Jack Huntley, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral arrangements will be held at the Sunset Hills Funeral Home at 2:30PM on Thursday, March 25. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Cancer Society, or a charitable organization of your choice.
