

Philip Sawchuk, age 90, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2022 in Redmond, Washington. Born in Peabody, Massachusetts on January 8, 1932; he was the second son of Samuel and Katherine Sawchuk. His brother Raymond(deceased) was four years older. He attended both elementary and high school in Peabody. Phil graduated from Northeastern University in Boston with a B.S. in civil engineering. He and his wife Irene, moved to Seattle, Washington in 1956 where they raised their two children. Phil was employed with The Boeing Company as a structural engineer, working on both civil as well as military projects. He retired after 38 years.
He met and married Lynda after his first wife’s death. After retirement Phil and Lynda moved to Arizona for eight years, returning to Redmond, Washington.Together they traveled and hiked the world over. China, Africa, and Australiawere some of their favorites.
Phil was an avid lifelong stamp collector and world war history buff especially aviation campaigns. He also played golf most of his adult life, and volleyball in his younger years at Boeing.
Phil is survived by his wife Lynda, his son Stephen/ (Mary), daughter Paula/(Ken),four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A memorial Service will be held at a date to be determined at Emerald Heights Retirement Community, 10901 176th Circle NE, Redmond, WA 98052.
